My husband David introduced Kid Koala's recordings to the household some years ago, the most recent one we have being "12-Bit Blues". He is described on Wikipedia as "a Canadian DJ, turntablist, musician, and an author of graphic novels". I guess that'll do, but he seems like so much more. I've loved all the recordings we have, but it was when I saw him live with Deltron 3030 at the Alix Goolden Hall in 2013 that my admiration went up a notch. Not only is he an original- a completely unique and highly creative artist- but he is also gives an energetic and supremely joyful performance. Plus he seems like a totally regular, nice guy.
The second time I saw him was quite recently, doing more of a straight-up DJ show at Distrikt. He very graciously thanked the two DJs who had preceded him, though in fact sitting through them was quite punishing and they were, quite literally, in a different league. If you get a chance to see him live you should, and you can check out his website here.
