If you are friends with me on facebook you probably know, and are possibly worn out by, these ink paintings that I have sworn to paint 100 of. One a day. For 100 days. Sheer heart attack. Hairy bananas. Insanity? Ridiculous.
Please see the preceding blog post for an explanation of why, why, WHY.
I have never painted like this before. I've used ink a little, but not quite in this way. Because the photographs that I am working from provide very little shadow, ie, very little light and dark to work with, I have ended up developing this way of creating light and dark shapes in the face that sometimes ends up looking somewhat mask-like. I dunno. I'm just going with it. I will probably never paint like this again.
This challenge has also proven to be an exercise in humility, as I don't always have time to finish the paintings to my complete satisfaction each day. They have to be posted by a certain time of the day, "done" or not. No time for perfection! It hurts!
I started my paintings ahead of the "100 Day Project", so that although I have completed 50 paintings, the 100 day challenge is not yet half over. I think I am 5 days ahead of the game.
That's it. Just wanted to check in. Wish me luck. Thanks. Oh, and here are the paintings: http://balampman.ca/100-days/
