Further to my post about The 100 Day Project... the new news is that I'm going to paint faces from Marina Abramovic's performance piece The Artist is Present from 2010, in ink. Most will be taken from a book of photos of the people who participated in Abramovic's performance at the MoMA, called "Portraits in the Presence of Marina Abramovic" by Marco Anelli.
The idea of The 100 Day Project is to choose something you will do each day for 100 days, and also document it each day. I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew with these portraits, because they aren't easy to achieve in a single day. This is in part due to the fact that certain portions of the painting have to dry before I can continue with the rest. I will therefore be cheating somewhat by doing certain portions ahead of time... in this way I will be producing something each day, but it will actually be completing something each day. C'est la vie.
I started experimenting some weeks back, trying to decide what I would do for the project, and seeing if I could speed up the process. I haven't gained much speed! But who knows what will happen when I start cranking these babies out. I've added a page to my website called "100 Days", and each new painting will be added there. Meanwhile, this is the new one from today.
